There are seven main chakras, and each is associated with certain aspects of our existence.
Chakras are areas of energy in the body that run through your center from the base of your spine to the top of your head. The word “chakra” (prounounced “CHOCK-rah”) is Sanskrit, meaning “wheel”, which refers to the spinning energy in each one. Each chakra has its own symbolism and each affects different aspects of your being: physical, mental, and spiritual. The energy of a chakra can be low, high, or anywhere it between – it exists on a spectrum – but a chakra is never fully “closed.” The chakras work best when balanced.
Keeping that in mind, you can work to activate your chakras one at a time, starting with where you feel needs attention. If you’re unsure where to start, try taking a chakra balancing quiz online or just starting at the foundation (Root chakra) and work your way up.
The energy of chakras is a fascinating system of self-exploration that ties in well with yoga, aromatherapy, crystals, meditation, and sound therapy. Each chakra has its own symbol, color, element, food, and even day of the week! Here, we’ve pared it down to just a summary.

There are many more centers distributed throughout the body, and their energy and vibration differ in their location and quality.
Chakras have a significant impact on several levels of our being.
The first level is physical. In the area of the body where the chakra is located, there are glands, organs, and nerves that can be activated through breathing exercises, meditation, asanas, and mantras.
The second level is the astral level. The vibration and energy flow of the chakras affects our consciousness as well as our physical health. Wrong food, bad company, and negative thoughts reduce or block the energy of the Chakras, which can lead to disorders of the mind and diseases of the body.
In its natural state, chakra energy moves in a clockwise direction. With a little practice, we can feel the radiation of the Chakras with the palm of our hand and determine the direction of rotation. We can influence the rotation of the chakras by placing the hand about one centimeter above the part of the body where the chakra is located and moving the hand clockwise for a few minutes.
The third level of significance is the spiritual level from which intuition, wisdom, and knowledge are obtained. The energy that awakens all the chakras is called Kundalini. “Kundal” means snake, so this energy is also known as “serpent power”. The rise of the Kundalini is the process of awakening consciousness. Consciousness expands awareness clarity increases and vitality increases. The awakening of the Kundalini means liberation from ignorance, illusions, and changeable thoughts, as well as the development of wisdom, self-discipline, and self-control.
The five chakras associated with normal human existence are located along the spine.
The two Divine Chakras are located in the head. Their vibration and energy guide us along the path of spiritual development.
On this spiritual path, we encounter all of our inner qualities and characteristics until they are completely purified and refined. In the Ajna Chakra, we achieve Self-Knowledge, and in the Sahasrara Chakra, the Higher Consciousness is revealed and the person unites with the Divine Self. As people, we have a unique opportunity in life to rise to the Higher Consciousness and gain knowledge of the Divine. “Activating the Chakras with the Energy of the Natural Flow” shows us the path to Higher Consciousness.
